Carry-on baggage
Allowed with conditions
TSA permits dry crisps and solid bars in carry-on. An ordinary dip or drink must meet the 3.4 oz/100 ml container limit and quart-bag rule.
Checked baggage
Allowed
TSA permits dry snacks in checked baggage. Cushion fragile packets and seal any separately packed dip against leaks.
Crisps, bar and separate dip
Close open packets so crumbs do not spill during inspection. Protect a brittle bar from pressure. The solid-snack answer does not extend to a separate dip cup.
BEFORE LEAVING HOME
Keep snacks contained
- Separate dry snacks from dips and drinks.
- Close packets against crumbs.
- Place liquid additions with other screened liquids.
Packaged snacks can be solid food such as Pringles or products with a liquid filling. Check the actual contents and any destination food-import rules instead of relying on the word snack alone.
