Solid cheese (gouda, parmeggiano regiano, grana padano, cheddar) is allowed without restrictions. Creamy cheese (blue cheese, mozarella, feta, ricotta, goat cheese) is treated as liquid and you can bring it on the plane as long as it's 100 ml or less.
